FPGA based real time data processing system in PET scanner

In Department of Experimental Particle Physics and Applications at Jagiellonian University the next generation of PET scanner is being developed. Innovation of device is distinguished by: plastic scintillators, silicon photomultipliers, modularity, mobility and real time data processing.
In my presentation I would like to briefly describe conceptual design of DAQ system. High amount of analog signal channels (4992) for imaging in real time, requires state-of-the-art data processing techniques. I will introduce participants to raw data acquisition, communication infrastructure and idea behind real time imaging on FPGA in reference to UltraFast design methodology, model based design and High Level Synthesis.
