Friction coefficient measurements of biomedical materials

This paper presents a comprehensive study on the friction coefficient of the porcine articular cartilage under simulated conditions. The purpose of the work was evaluation the self-made electronic device for friction measurements. Evaluation was prepared for variable measurement conditions, like determination of the friction coefficient for cartilage and glass or polymeric counter specimen. Also, influence of a dry and a hydrodynamic friction to changes friction coefficient for different biomaterials was observed.
