Development of embedded PC and FPGA based systems with virtual hardware

The paper presents methodology used to develop systems based on tightly coupled embedded PC and FPGA.
Use of virtual hardware allows to verify the concept of the system before the real prototype is manufactured.
It is possible to write and test the device driver and verify in advance concepts of the communication between the hardware and software part of the system. Such approach increases probability that even the first hardware prototype will be fully functional.
