Nonlinear Properties and S-matrix Description of a Mach-Zehnder Modulator

In this paper, we present the concept of using the Mach-Zehnder Modulator (MZM) in microwave-photonic devices. This concept consists of the analitical model developed in the linear operation regime and the behavior of MZMs in non-linear mode. Moreover, the description of MZMs using typical microwave methodology - S-matrix is presented.
