Simulation of Karman Vortex Street Phenomenon with Computional Fluid Dynamics Methods Application

The subject of the paper is numerical modeling of the von Karman vortex street phenomenon. Results of flow simulations for two different bluff bodies: a circular cylinder and a cylinder with the slit, located in a pipeline are presented. Simulations were focused on investigation of the pressure fluctuations along the pipeline axis as well as in perpendicular direction to it. Achieved results can be used in optimization of the vortex flow meter design, especially in the context of the pressure sensor location for the different shapes of the bluff bodies.
